So, the summer holiday season is upon us – hallelujah we hear you cry! But, wait, what if you’re one of those who, for one reason or another, doesn’t have a holiday scheduled? Well, you need to find some way to be smug and we’re going to try our best to help.

Whilst you may not be relaxing on a boat in the Med, there are other ways to mimic that calm and collected feeling in the office. Sound too good to be true? Well, maybe we are being a tad optimistic but we’ll certainly do our best…

Now, if you ask us, one of the main reasons that we spend so much money on a holiday is not really for the tan, the cocktails or the great selfie-taking lighting but for a long overdue opportunity to collect our thoughts, release some pressure and return stress-free, ready to take on the world again.

In an effort to get you channeling those just-returned-from-holiday-vibes without a beach in sight, we’ve got a few tips and tricks which will have those recent returnees scratching their heads and begging to know your secret.

Take some time out

With recent news suggesting that always being ‘switched on’ to work is counterproductive and actually leads to us becoming less efficient, appreciating the importance of stepping away from the desk will work wonders for your mind-set and, believe it or not, your productivity. So, on that note, we hereby give you our permission to block out those breaks in the diary and make the most of your freedom – even if only for a short while.

Implement some order

Now you have a refreshed outlook on life following a well-deserved break from the office, it’s time to get your (work) life in order – starting with your desk. They do say that a tidy desk equals a tidy mind and we have to say that we agree. Clear out the junk and invest in some attractive items that will help you to get organised from our range of desk tidies, letter trays and magazine racks – you’ll be ready to face the world in no time.

Plan away

Fail to prepare and prepare to fail – whilst we may have put our own spin on this sound piece of advice, we definitely do have a point. When it comes to getting the most out of our days there’s nothing quite like having a solid plan in place. Mapping out the day ahead, even if this is as simple as writing a to-do list, really helps to focus the mind and produce some clear aims and objectives which will prevent the stress creeping in.

What’s more, using our range of stationery items including notebooks and planners you’ll be flying through that work in no time – now where’s that pay rise….

If all else fails…

If you’ve tried all of our tips but to no avail, our final piece of advice would be to have a little fun. While work does require a certain level of decorum, that’s no excuse not to bring a little humour into the office from time-to-time. After all, laughter is the best remedy and it certainly works wonders for us here at the Office Monster HQ.
