When revising for something, whether it might be GCSE’s, something work related, or driving theory, it can be easy to get bogged down and become un-motivated, and when this happens, you can then start to procrastinate and lose interest and motivation.

However there are things you can do to stop this from happening such as… change the technique and style of revision that you are using.

1. Mind Maps

Mind maps are a fantastic way of getting the information from the text book, into your head. If you use a wide range of pens and vibrant colored pens, to try and make the revision look arty and aesthetically pleasing, this will make the revision much more enjoyable and fun and will turn it into more of an art project rather than boring revision. However, the information will be going into your head as well as being fun.

2. Posters

Creating and making posters, much like the mind map will become a fun art project, if you get some colored pens and pencils, maybe even some arts and crafts to stick on it to bring it alive, the revision will become less boring. So, you’ll need some A3 paper, and what is fantastic about posters is that, you can stick them around your room, we suggest right next to your door and then every time you leave, you’ll be reminded of all the information that you need to remember.

3. Flash Cards

Flash cards are probably, the most practical revision technique. All you do is write a question on the front of a piece of colored card, and then write the answer on the back. Then you get a friend or a family member to ask you the question and then you have to try answer it. To make this technique more fun, we suggest getting a pack of Harbibo’s and every time you get one right, your friend has to throw a Haribo into your mouth!

4. Regular breaks

This one isn’t necessarily a technique, however it is very important. Working really hard is great, but doing this all the time can lower productivity and motivation to work. Therefore taking regular productive breaks, such as going for a walk or a run, or taking a long hot bath, or watching your favorite program for an hour, because just like your body needs a break from exercising your mind also needs a break from learning. So, treat your self, you deserve it!
